I have several asiatic lilies that have grown as tall as 45 |
Lilies can grow to amazing heights! Mine are 5' tall, which makes working in the garden a delightful chore - the blossoms are a nose level! Your lilies will grow best in full sunshine - at least 6 hours of afternoon sun. Any less and you won't have such spectacular blooms. They are deep rooted so container growing will be a challenge, unless you can provide 18-14" of soil. I think I'd try to find a sunny spot out in the yard. Transplanting should be done after frost nips the tops and they die down naturally. This signals the bulb that it is time to rest. After the tops die down, cut them off at ground level and carefully dig the bulbs. Replant at the same soil depth as they were growing before and next spring they should sprout right on schedule. Enjoy! |
