When is the best time to prune fruit trees? I have two pear, two apple, and one cherry tree.

In late winter, when the trees are dormant, is the best time to prune. You can remove a branch or two during the summer months, but pruning in the summer quite often encourages suckers or water sprouts (non-productive upright growth). Put it on your calendar for next February and your fruit trees will thank you.
