i have 3 questions. first onewhats good for keeping dogs andcats away from flowers? what do u know about the shrub or flower called persian shield? its likepurple. and last which arethe 3 best heat tolerant flowers in hutto,tx?

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

There are sprays and granular products which are sold to keep pets away from flowers. A low electric fence works well too. Cats hate the motion activated sprinklers such as the brand called Scarecrow.

Persian shield is an annual warm season color plant in your area. The plant needs shade but bright shade or the plant won't develop the deep purplish color.

Three heat tolerant flowers for your area are yellow bells (Esperanza), plumbago, and Salvia 'Mystic Spires'.
