| when will the 17-year cicadas die out? What will happen with all the dead cicadas? |
| The parent generation dies out soon after they breed. Some of them are eaten by birds, snakes, and other animals. The dead cicadas just disappear, sort of the way autumn leaves disappear. They are recycled naturally to feed the soil. When I last experienced a huge appearance of the 17 year cicadas they were noticeable as they emerged but once they died off they were not a problem. |
