What are your thoughts on rubber mulch? I wanted to do regular mulch, but decided against it because of termites.

If you are concerned about termites, make sure there is a gap of bare ground between the mulch and the foundation of your home. It is surprising but termites will actually hide under any kind of mulch because they like the damp, cool, dark conditions there. So that should not be a determining factor in which mulch to use.

Rubber mulch may leach into the soil, and like gravel mulch, it does not provide any benefit to the soil. Organic mulch is far better because it provides the benefit of breaking down slowly over time providing organic matter and helping to feed the soil.
