I have a small tomato garden which had some ripening tomatoes. Everytime they are almost ready to pick some pesty varmit picks them and eats them. Might it be rabbits or raccoons. how do I stop this. I have tried putting 4 foot fencing around to no avail! What can I do? I look forward to your help. Charlie

I suspect raccoons are raiding your garden. I would drape the plants with bird netting. This will still allow pollinating insect access to the flowers but will keep pesky wildlife at bay. Be sure to firmly anchor the bird netting to the ground or you may end up with a trapped masked marauder!
