The Q&A Archives: Roses

Question: What can I use to prevent beetles and other inscets from eating my roses? Currently, beetles are feasting on my roses and I want them to stop. Please help me.

Answer: Kislyn,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Home Depot garden centers carry a number of products for rose pest control. Look for products with ingredients such as carbaryl or Sevin. These will be effective against beetles. Follow label instructions carefully. The following web page lists a number of products for a wide variety of rose pests as well as indicating that some rose cultivars are sensitive to various products so care should be taken by testing a product on a small section of the plant before applying it to the entire bush.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
