The Q&A Archives: Localized Planting Dates for Maryland

Question: I have searched everywhere I can find and haven't been able
to find any information about when to plant specifice
vegetables in my local area. I have searched USDA and the
net and have come up dry. Are there any resources that will
guideme towards planting at the proper time. The back of
the Burpee seed packages don't really give enough information for a beginner like me.

Thanks
Bert Robbins

Answer: You've come to the right place! I can tell you where to find the info you seek -- Your county agricultural extension office (ph# 301/590-9638) can provide you with planting information. Also, you can order a catalog from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange (PO Box 170, Earlysville, VA 22936; ph# 804/973-4703) - although they're located in your neighboring state of Virginia, their extensive planting calendar in the back of the catalog applies to the same zones and regions as in Maryland. Have fun withyour garden!
