My puppy keeps on destroying my newly planted flower bed. I've tried mothballs and chayenne pepper, garlic and vinegar and nothing seems to work for more than a day. Is there anything that I can do to keep her away.

April,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

The options for keeping a pet out of a flower bed include repellent sprays of various types, placing wire mesh such as chicken wire over the plants to make the area inaccessible, and placing a low voltage electric fence wire around the area to teach them it is not a fun place to visit. This final option may be the best in the case of your pet and there are chargers that won't harm pets but that work very well in teaching them which areas are off limits.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
