The Q&A Archives: Asparagus

Question: Is the aspargus known as the Jersey Giant a male plant? I hear the male plant is the better of the two.

Answer: Jersey Giant asparagus is mostly male (sometimes a female plant sneaks in). The male plants are preferable - they're the ones that produce the asparagus stalks.
