The first step is to identify the bugs so you know exactly what you're dealing with. It's important, because not all pesticides work against all pests, and since this is a vegetable garden, you'll want to use something that's safe for veggies. Capture a few of the insects (a sealable plastic baggie works well) and take them to your local Cooperative Extension office, Master Gardener Clinic, or well-staffed nursery. Helpful folks there can positively identify the bugs and suggest vegetable friendly controls.

Best wishes with your garden!
