our main concern are the insects in the garden. we had heard of a safe method by spraying a soapywater mix on them but we arent sure if it will hurt our garden. we have tomatoes,cucumbers,peas,beans,two types of lettuce and some spices please let us know if it'll do any harm to any of them

I just answered a partial version of your question. Insecticidal soap can be used to treat a variety of insects, however you need to read the label to be sure it is appropriate for the insect in question and for use on the specific plant. You would not be spraying unless you have a specific reason to do so. I hope this helps.
