I have the most stunning hollyhocks & just can't seem to control the rust that seems to be taking over all of the leaves on the stalks. Help! What is your best remedy? The fungicide just isn't workin! Thanks so much.

Unfortunately there is no good cure for hollyhock rust. The best controls are to remove the first infected leaves you see to slow it down, and to do a thorough clean up every fall to remove all of the hollyhock debris from the garden to try to limit reinfection. Spacing the plants to allow for good air circulation can also help, and avoid wetting the foliage if you water. In the garden, you may find that planting something in front of the hollyhocks to conceal the lower portion of the plants hides the problem from view.
