Your blue potato bush is Solanum rantonnetii 'Royal Robe'. It is an evergreen from Argentina. It grows 6-8' high and bears dark purple flowers all summer long. It will grow in full sun or part afternoon shade and prefers regular applications of water during the growing season. Wait until the top two inches of soil is dry then apply water slowly so it has a chance to trickle down and wet the entire root mass. Water as often as required during the hot summer months, but allow the top two inches of soil to dry out before watering thoroughly again. To help maintain the shape, pinch out any growth that becomes overly long during the summer months. At the end of the summer you can trim the entire shrub back hard (by about 1/3) to encourage the production of new flowering stems. Hope this answers your question!
