I have a new home in puerto Rico and would like a new lawn. What type of seed would you recommend. The home is about 25 minutes from San Juan and preferably would like something that is lush, needs little upkeep, and do not have to pull out the mower frequently. thank you in advance for you advice.
Ps. I also have a problem with fire ants--any suggestions?

The turfgrasses growing best in Puerto Rico include Bermuda, Zoysia, St. Augustine and Centipede. Non are seeded, they are all either sodded or purchased by plugs (little starter plants). I'm sure you'll find a local distributor near San Juan.

Broadcast baits suchs as Spectricide's Once and Done can be used to control fire ants.

Best wishes with your lawn!
