When is the best time to pick herbs? They are parsley, rosemary, dill, basil, and oregano. This will really help me. This is the very first time I have ever planted these. Thanks for the help.

I usually begin harvesting the odd leaf here and there when the plant has grown about six or eight leaves. Pinching helps the plants branch and grow sturdier. Pinching can be done as soon as the plant is several inches tall and repeated occasionally. As they mature, you can harvest almost daily. With all of your plants, you can cut the outer stems off from the perimeter of the plant as soon as they seem large enough to use. When the plant is very small, take no more than half of it at a time. I hope these rules of thumb are useful.
