We have a fig bush or tree. Was wondering what to feed it to get nice large size fruit. We get lots of small figs, half of them do not even ripen.

Thanks.

Figs need only light fertilization if they are growing in the ground. If container grown, they should be fertilized regularly with a water soluble or slow release fertilizer such as 10-10-10 plus minors. Follow the label directions for how much to use and fertilize only when it is actively growing during spring and summer. Our growing season in PA is so short there can be difficulty in getting the figs to ripen. Or, your tree may need to be repotted into a larger container. After three years your tree should be in a 25 gallon pot, then pruned as needed to keep it at that size. Here is information about growing figs you may find helpful.
