There are a number of hibiscus species and cultivars. In your gardening region, all would be considered outdoor plants. The tropical hibiscus, Hibiscus rosa sinensis is the most tender and people in other parts of the country grow it outdoors in a container during the summer months and then take it indoors when temperatures are below 55 degrees. In your Florida garden you should be able to grow it outdoors all year around.
