The Q&A Archives: Planting grass seeds

Question: I am trying to replenish an old lawn. Would like to know what is the best grass seeds to use. Also where can I get good instructions on how to prepare the soil and spread the seeds.

Answer: Pat,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Most good lawn grasses are planted from plugs or sod and not seed. Two that can be planted from seed include centipede and some bermudagrass cultivars. The following web site offers more info on choosing a quality turf grass for your Florida lawn.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
