I have a flourishing gardenia shrub that has literally taken over my garden. I want to cut it back but currently have blossoms on it.
When should / can I do that and how severe can I prune it without loosing blossoms ?

Norman,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

It would be best to wait until late winter to do the pruning on the gardenia. A little trimming is okay now but you need to wait until late winter to do any significant pruning.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
