This is my first year to grow gourds. Every seed germinated, were planted next to a high fence, and now the vines are reaching 20 feet. When do they flower and when do the gourds appear?

You should see flowers any day now. Gourds can take from 110 to 130 days to mature and they thrive in hot weather so you should be seeing some flowers soon. Male flowers are the first to open (they have a thin straight stem); female flowers will then appear (they have a slight swelling directly behind the petals). The female flowers will develop fruit if they are pollinated by insects. Let's hope you see some action soon!
