Hi, I am part of a community garden, and due to a construction project, we will just be gaining our first access this weekend. Could you help me determine what vegetables will do okay given that I'm planting them this late? thanks shea |
Mid summer is a difficult time to plant, but you could grow bush beans planted now. You might also have success with zucchini or summer squash as well as basil. Then in August you could start planting your fall garden, using cool season plants such as lettuce, spinach, peas, and broccoli for example. In the meantime you might consider planting a cover crop to help build your soil; buckwheat would be terrific and grows fast in summer weather. Enjoy your garden plot! |
