The Q&A Archives: Dry patches in lawn

Question: Hi.
My lawn is comming up great, but in a couple of areas it seems to be drying up, it's brown and I can see the dirt.ground, is this due to lack of watering?

Thank you

Answer: Alfred,

It could be a lack of water. Dig down a couple of inches and feel the soil to see if it is moist or not. The browning may also be from excessive fertilizer applications in those areas or application of a weed and feed, which can damage some turf species when temperatures are 85 degrees or above.
