Hi Im new to planting cantaloupe this season and I have one plant that has vined out all over the place and I also have tomatos in a small area about 3 feet by 2 feet What should I put up that will support the cantaloupe from the ground?

Growing any vining veggie often takes more room than you first imagine; cantaloupes are no exception! You can set a trellis behind the plant and train the vines go grow up. Be sure to support the fruit as it grows or it will be heavy enough to pull the vine down. I've used various things for support and I find that I can make an A frame out of wood or PVC pipe and cover it with bird netting for the vines to cling to. You can make slings out of 12" lengths of old pantyhose and cradle the fruit in them.

Enjoy the fruits of your labor!
