| You didn't specify whether you needed plants for a sunny, or a shady slope, so we'll supply suggestions for plants that fit your requirements and will grow in either sun or shade. Aptenia cordifolia 'Apple Red' is an exceptional groundcover for your area, growing 6"-8" tall, bearing bright red flowers and requiring very little water. Also consider Kinnikinnick, Calylophus hartwegii, Gazania, Malephora (Ice Plant) or Ground Morning Glory, Achillea tomentosa (Woolly yarrow), Aethionema pulchellum (Stonecrest), Ajuga reptans (Carpet bugle), Alyssum montanum (Mountain alyssum), Antennaria spp. (Pussytoes), Arabis alpina (Alpine rockcress), Arenaria verna caespitosa (Moss sandwort), Arenaria maritima (Common thrift), Cerastium tomentosum (Snow-in-summer), Dianthus deltoides (Maiden pink), Dianthus plumarius (Cottage or grass pink), Papaver nudicale (Iceland poppy), Penstemon caespitosus (Creeping penstemon), Saponaria ocymoides (Rock soapwort), Teucrium canadense (American germander), or Viola cornata (Tufted pansy).
