We have 6-1/2 year old pear trees which are not blooming. What is the problem? Our lemon and lime trees bloomed and produced fruit last year but this year we did not even have blooms. What is our problem? We have had all of these trees professionally fertilized. Help!! Thank you, |
Rochelle, Pears need another variety to pollinate in many cases. Your may need to consider purchasing a different variety to go with the one you have. The fact that the tree is not even blooming is another matter. If the trees don't get lots of sunlight they can't set bloom buds. Excessive vigor also affects bloom production. Cut back to nothing on fertilizing and make sure the trees are in at least 6 hours of direct sun a day. The citrus also need sun to set blooms. Excessive nitrogen can encourage growth of shoots at the expense of bloom production. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
