The Q&A Archives: Is it good to not plant one season?

Question: Like next season I was going to clean out all the leaves out. There are in the bottoms of the plants. Outside plants

Answer: Jackie,

I am not sure I understand your question. It is good occasionally to let a patch of the garden go unplanted to rest for a season. You can put a covering of compost or a solid cover of leaves as a mulch on the soil to deter weeds while it take a vacation for the season.
