| Denise, To save money on sodding your lawn I suggest you purchase the sod by the pallet and do it yourself. Rake out the dead grass and water to moisten the soil. Then you can lay the sod in the bare areas and roll the newly laid sod with a turf roller (available from a local rental place). Water the sod well and keep it moist for a couple of weeks to allow it to get roots down into the soil below. Another option to make your sod purchase go farther is to cut the sod blocks into plugs or strips and set them in the bare areas spaces about a foot apart. With good watering and some fertilizing they will fill in by the end of the season. Keep the area moist as I mentioned above. Fertilize starting about 4 weeks after sodding or plugging.
