I am new to this area and I want to know what zone I am in and what are the best possible plants for my area in shade and sun. There are no flower beds and few trees. I love roses and want to put in an arbor and some climbing roses under my bedroom window. Can you guide me to a list somewhere that will tell me what all I can plant for my area?

Judy,

Your question is really many in one. Let me tackle a few of them this time and then please post another to the Home Depot website. We can provide the more thorough answer for individual questions.

Your USDA cold hardiness zone is 8b, and your heat zone is 9. Some well adapted climbing roses for your area are the antique varieties Lady Banks and Climbing Old Blush, and also Climbing Pinkie.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
