How do I care for this. The flowers have dried up. Are they suppose to do this and be clipped off or are they suppose to stay on all summer?

Is this an annual or perennial?

Ballad sunflower is a dwarf hybrid sunflower. It is an annual and will die after the flower petals fall and seeds form. Removing the flowers usually won't result in additional flowers, but it's worth a try because it's so early in the season. Typically, sunflowers sown in spring grow all summer, producing flowers in late summer or early fall. Yours must have gotten an early start!
