| Hostas are primarily shade loving plants. They can be grown in bright dappled light, or in direct morning sun. Avoid hot afternoon sun and avoid all-day sun locations. Also, the more sun hostas receive, the more care you need to give to watering. In a very shady spot they will tolerate average soil moisture but as the amount of sun increases the soil should be kept a bit moister -- evenly moist but well drained, meaning not saturated and not dried out. |
