The Q&A Archives: Foster's Holly Berries

Question: I recently purchased 2 Fosters Holly bushes. I planted these in my backyard. Are the berries poisenous to dogs? Humans?(we have a baby running around putting everything in her mouth).

Answer: Chad,

Holly berries are poisonous in fairly large quantities. I would not have them around babies who might try to eat them. That said, you could pick the berries off for a year or two until your child is old enough to understand not to put things like that in their mouth. The dog is another factor. Teaching Fido such things may not be practical.
