Two ques: How to keep critters from eating ripe strawberries? My plants have wine colored spots, what could this be and what do I do about it?

The leaf spots are caused by a fungus and are spread through splashing water; either rainfall or overhead sprinkling. You can remove the affected leaves or use a copper based fungicide to keep the fungus from spreading, and try to keep water off the leaves. As for the critters, you might try draping bird netting over your plants. Or, if you're dealing with slugs, use Sluggo in and around your plantings.
