The Q&A Archives: Pinks

Question: My pinks that I planted last year came up again bigger and more beautiful than last year. However, now all the blooms have faded and are gone. Should I just cut them all down and hope they pop up again?

Answer: Yes, cut the spent flowers and flowering stems back now; with any luck at all, they will produce new flowering stems later this summer. Try to leave some of the foliage on the plant when you cut away the dead flowers.

Best wishes with your pinks.
