How can I save my palm. I have had it for about 9 years and it was beautiful. It developed some sort
of problem where the underside of fronds turned white and new one coming out from the center died.
I did spray with an oil based solution recommended
by gardner at Home Depot. Can I trim dead branches that have come out from the center. Help!
Thanks so much for your time and any help you can offer.

Gloria,

The problem was probably scale or mealybugs. I suspect that repeat sprays may be needed. You might want to try a spray/drench containing imidocloprid as an alternative for controlling those insects since it is systemic and complete coverage of all insects is not required. You can go ahead and trim away any dead fronds on the plant.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
