I've purchased garlic from Burpee for the past two years. I notice that it flowers in the spring. Do I allow the garlic to grow a flower stalk and flower, or do I harvest before it flowers?

Garlic should be harvested before it sends up a flower stalk. The flower takes energy from the bulbs, resulting in smaller, low quality garlic. Plant your garlic bulbs in October and harvest in the spring after the leaves have begun to turn brown. If it starts to grow a flower stalk, you've waited too long.
