It has been a month and a half since I planted my gardenia. I planted it in a pot. It seems to be doing very well, It even grew a flower to my surprise. When do I start fertilizing the plant and instead of buying fertilization what can I use from the house?

Also when is the month to prune it and how do we prune it?

Alma,

There is not a good household product for the gardenia. I would suggest Miracid which is mixed into a liquid for periodic fertilization for acid loving plants. The best time to prune is after it completes its summer bloom period. Just don't prune much as it doesn't need much at all. Just snip back any long shoots to shape the bush a little to suit your preferences.
