Is there a special way to deadhead Alstroemeria? Do I cut the flower off the stem or do I pull/cut the stem and the flower from the base of the plant?

Alstroemeria makes a wonderful cut flower for vases and when they are harvested for this purpose, the entire flowering stem is cut down to the crown of the plant. You can do the same thing when all the flowers are spent; cut the entire flowering stem down. New flowering stems may be produced later this summer.
