The Q&A Archives: impatiens

Question: I have impatiens on the front porch and they are not producing alot of blooms. could this be from too much sun or not enough. The leaves are very green but there are not alot of blooms.

Answer: There may be nothing at all wrong - impatiens bloom sporadically all season long. However, too much fertilizer (resulting in lots of green growth), will retard blooming. Hold off on feeding your plants and keep them well watered. You should see a flush of blooms within the next 2 weeks or so.
