The Q&A Archives: How to make it grow??

Question: I Can't seem to get my watermelon or cantaloupe to grow, any ideas?

Answer: Melons need warm, rich soil to grow well. It should also be kept evenly moist like a wrung out sponge. Planting transplants too early when the soil is still cold can stunt them. For now, you could try top dressing with good quality compost, fertilize with a general purpose granular fertilizer such as 10-10-10 if you have not already, mulch with several inches of organic mulch to help keep the soil moist between rain/waterings. I hope this helps!
