I do not know the type of insect on my phlox, but they look like very small green leaves. They do not seem to be doing damage to the plants, but the plants are covered in them. Insects are maybe 1/2 inch in length at best. Look like little green butterflies smaller than my pinky nail. Are these good or bad insects and what is the name of them? I appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you. |
What you describe sound like walking leaf insects (Phasmida) which are related to walking stick insects. They do feed on plants, but there are no registered controls for them, at least none that I can locate. So, armed with their true identity, you may be able to find a control locally. Best wishes with your phlox! |
