The Q&A Archives: day lillies

Question: After day lillies bloom, should they be cut back? Is there a a way to mget them to bloom again?

Answer: To deadhead, remove each flower as it fades. When all the buds on the scape have bloomed, trim off the scape (tall stiff stem) by cutting it at the base. Do not cut back the foliage. There are some reblooming varieties but in general they bloom only once a year.
