How can you tell grass or weeds form newly planted flowers.

Your question is difficult to answer with a written description. Some flowers look a lot like some types of weeds and there are hundreds of potential weeds and flowers to try and describe. Experience is a good teacher. You could also plant a few seeds in a pot when you plant seeds in the garden and then you'd have a seedling example to check later.
