I am not sure of the proper name of the plant. However I believe the plant is called Angel Trumpet. A friend cut a piece of her plant and gave it to me. I placed it in water to help it get some roots. But the plant does not look very well. Can this plant be grown in water? Or should I put it in dirt?

Lea,

It can't be grown in water. You can root it in the dirt but it may be a bit too stressed at this point. You can try recutting the base of the stem and then dipping it in rooting hormone. Then stick it in a container with moist perlite and cover with clear plastic. Put in bright area out of direct sun and in a few weeks it may be rooting and able to be potted up.
