The Q&A Archives: Herbs

Question: I'm trying to grow some herbs (parsley, cilantro, mexican pepper, sorrel, oregano, tarragon, basil and chives.) I used horse manure mixed with sand and added a bit of fertilizer. All herbs seem to be OK with the exception of the cilantro and parsley. They seem to be limp and losing color (faded to a yellow on some of the plant.)What might be causing this?

Answer: Brian,

In a new soil mix with manure you often find that some plants will struggle a while as the soil starts to mellow. The next time you plant those herb in fall they should do better. The two that are not doing well hate hot weather and are much better planted in fall.
