The Q&A Archives: Pumkin vines no flowers

Question: I planted cucumber and pumkin seeds 2 months ago the cucumber is bearing alot however the 2 pumkin plants took over my garden looks green and healthy but there is no flowers , this is the regular pumkin to cook. Should I get rid of the pumkin because if they haven't flowers yet when are they going to bear.

Answer: Based on your description I think you need to wait another two weeks or so before you would expect to see flowers. The vines grow huge first, then after about ten weeks they begin to flower. The first flowers will be male, followed a week or so later by female flowers. Good luck with your pumpkins!
