I have no gardening experience whatsoever but my fiance and I just bought a house and I will need to plant some flowers but I need something that is easy to care for and will last throughout the year. We live in Texas so it gets pretty hot here. What would you recommend?

Sheena,

You can plant annuals and perennials in your area that will survive the summer. Fall is just around the corner so about October you'll want to start planting cool season flowers.

Some good annuals for now include marigolds for sun and impatiens for shade. Perennials include esperanza or yellow bells, Salvia Mystic Spires, Lantana, and firebush. For fall planting consider pansies, dusty miller, violas, ornamental kale and cabbage, and johnny jump ups.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
