The Q&A Archives: geraniums

Question: I put my plants out side for some more sun but they got to much sun. How do treat scorched leaves?

Answer: Unfortunately there is nothing you can do for sunburned leaves. Hopefully the plant will grow new ones soon and conceal the damage. When you move your plants outside, do it gradually over the course of ten days to two weeks, exposing them to longer periods of sun each day. Begin with gentle early morning sun only and work up to more. This gives the cuticle on the leaves time to adjust. FOr the same reason, in the fall you would move them gradually indoors -- set them in a shady spot for a week or so before you bring them in.
