I been told that crabgrass preemergent wears off after 4 months. It has worked well, and 4 mo will be up mid August (zone 5). My ultimate goal is to have good grass grow in place of the crabgrass. How can I achieve that goal?

The best approach is to check the label on the pre-emergent you used to see how often reapplication is recommended. Using it according to label directions will ensure you maintain a healthy lawn without over-applying any product.

Best wishes with your lawn.
