I have a palm tree/not sure what type but it it has brown spots all over the leaves. Can you suggest any thing? How can I tell if an invasive plant is attacking its roots or if it is just sick?

Leaf spots are nearly always a sign of disease, not of a root problem. I can't diagnose the problem without seeing it, though, so I can't recommend a treatment. I suggest you take a sample of the problem to your cooperative extension office or a well staffed nursery. Someone there should be able to identify the problem and recommend some treatment strategies.
